196: 32 of the best money-making activities to implement in your business today

In celebration of my 32nd birthday, I’m bringing you 32 of my favourite money-making activities!

This is just a reminder that you are not meant to do all of them right now. Take what feels good and leave what doesn’t.

So many business owners think they’re focusing on income-producing tasks when actually, it’s just busy work.

Your week should always be made up of a blend of these 3 categories. Do that and you can’t not reach the version of success that you desire.

We are going to split these up into the 3 core groups of income-producing activities to focus on which are:

  1. Your current clients & customers

  2. Potential clients & customers

  3. Working on yourself / on the business

This is one of my favourite things to talk about and has come highly requested from you, so lets not waste any time and dive straight in.

your boss score

I want you to keep your Boss Score in mind when you’re looking over these money-making activities. Your boss score reflects the value of the tasks you're working on. The higher the value, the higher your score will be. It's important to ensure that your week is balanced with tasks from each of the three categories we discussed. By doing so, you'll be on the path to achieving the version of success you desire. Remember, striving for a higher Boss Score is key to maximising your productivity and impact.

1) Your current clients & customers

The first money-making activity is customer fulfilment. It's important to check in with your customers who have already said yes to you. Happy customers are invaluable because they spread the word about your product or business, increasing its lifetime value. Customer fulfilment is about creating residual income and building lasting relationships. Many people overlook this aspect, but it's crucial for long-term success. Take a moment to reflect on whether you're prioritising customer satisfaction.

The second activity is market research with current customers, which involves gathering feedback. Even if you offer digital products or workshops, proactively reach out to your customers. This personal touch shows that you're paying attention and genuinely care about their experience. It's especially important for high-end offers, as a transactional approach doesn't foster strong relationships. Engage with your customers, ask how you can serve them better, and gather valuable insights.

The third activity is program, product, or service maintenance and updates. Continuously improve and update your offerings to ensure they meet customer needs. Regularly review your curriculums, products, and services to identify areas that require maintenance or updates. Keep everything up-to-date to provide the best possible experience for your customers.

Next is the onboarding process, which is a critical money-making activity as it sets the tone for your customer's journey. Create a seamless onboarding process that can be systemised and doesn't require excessive work. Think of it as a success path, guiding your customers on what they need to know, do, or have before diving into your course or programme. Tailor the process to address any concerns or questions your customers may have upfront.

Customer delivery is the fifth activity, focusing on how you deliver your product, program, or service. Ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for your customers. Pay attention to details such as branding, packaging, and clarity of instructions. If you offer courses, make sure they are easy to navigate and avoid overwhelming customers with unnecessary content.

The sixth activity is welcome gifts, which contribute to the overall customer experience. Surprise and delight your customers by sending personalised welcome gifts, even small gestures like a handwritten card can make a significant impact. Incorporate these gifts into your marketing strategy and consider their cost in your profit margin.

Activity number seven is about providing clear deliverables and containers for your offerings. Clearly define what customers can expect from your product, program, or service. Avoid vagueness that can lead to confusion and frustration. Clarity helps manage customer expectations and prevents scope creep, particularly for service-based businesses.

Offering relevant bonuses is the eighth money-making activity. Bonuses should be functional and directly tied to the programme or service you're offering. Get creative and brainstorm how you can enhance the customer experience through valuable bonuses that align with your offerings. Think about having bonuses that help customers get started or maintain momentum.

Activity number nine involves keeping in touch with your customers. Once someone becomes a customer, they should remain a customer for life. Establish touch points like sending Christmas cards or offering birthday discounts to maintain a connection. Use these touch points to show your clients that you genuinely care about their experience!

Lastly, caring about your clients and building real relationships is essential. Take the time to get to know your clients on a human level. While maintaining professional boundaries, show genuine interest in their goals, their personal lives, and their businesses. This connection helps them feel valued and cared for and sets them apart from businesses that view clients solely as sources of income.

2) Potential clients & customers

Okay, let's move on to Category Number 2: Potential Clients and Customers.

We're kicking off with Money Making Activity Number 11: Connecting with someone new. This is something incredibly easy that you can do every single day. How many of us unintentionally scroll through our feeds? I'm raising my hand right now, even though you can't see me. There are loads of different ways you can do this. You can check out who recently followed you, engage with those who have been watching your stories, search hashtags, or see who's commenting on a competitor's page. It only takes one store reply, one comment, or one email to make yourself known. Who knows, they could become a customer from there. Many of my previous clients have told me that they appreciated our DMs or when I replied to their stories and commented on their posts. It showed them that I care, which ties back to the last point. It also helped build trust with me a lot faster.

Now let's move on to Money Making Activity Number 12: Creating content about your business. When was the last time you talked about your business? I don't mean what you sell, but rather your business in general. Share your story, your origin, your why, your values, your wins and your celebrations. Remember, one of your biggest achievements is that you're still here and still going, so make sure people are educated about your business, not just what you have to sell.

Speaking of selling, let's discuss Money Making Activity Number 13: Creating content about what you sell. Selling daily should be a non-negotiable in some way, shape, or form on various platforms like podcasts, emails, blogs, Instagram feeds, and stories. There are numerous ways to sell, so mix it up and make sure you do something every day. Personally, during my launch for new one-on-one clients and the Boss Project in May, I made sure to sell in some way every day. On busy days, when I don't have much time to actively sell, I have two non-negotiables: connecting with someone new and making it known how someone can work with me. Step out of your comfort zone and ensure you actively sell every day.

Moving on to Money Making Activity Number 14: Following up with leads. I recently mentioned this to a client who is setting up a lead tracker. So much money is left on the table due to a lack of follow-ups. All of my clients stay on top of this by using spreadsheets or project management systems to track leads. One client in particular always follows up with leads when she needs new one-on-one clients or is launching her group programme. She consistently signs clients from past leads. Remember, if you're not following up with leads, you're leaving money on the table. Follow up with your leads!

Let's now discuss Money Making Activity Number 15: Growing your audience by adding value. Growing your audience is vital, but not just for any audience. Aim for an aligned audience with similar interests, core values, or worldviews. When you're aligned with your audience, establishing authority and expertise becomes easier because you both value the same things. When I talk about adding value, I don't mean generic messages like "You can do hard things" or "Here's your inspiration for today." Instead, provide real value that leads to a transformation even before a transaction. Ensure that your audience can take immediate action with the value you offer, enhancing their day and providing a transformation at some level, whether mental, physical, emotional, or financial. Truly understand your audience and provide valuable content regularly, free of charge, before making any asks.

Now, let's move on to Money Making Activity Number 16: Attraction Marketing. Tasks falling under attraction marketing are the high-value activities that are often overlooked. Many of us get caught up in low-value tasks that earn only £10 or £100 per hour. However, attraction marketing itself is a significant money-making activity. To attract new people and expand your reach, consider the following four tasks: First, get in front of existing communities and leverage other people's audiences. This can be achieved through guest speaking, guest posting, or creating content for platforms that reach existing audiences. Second, focus on search strategies, which take longer to see results but can be incredibly powerful in the long run. Third, paid advertising is an option, but it should be approached cautiously and only after testing and validating your message, offer, and sales process with warm traffic. Finally, consider using TikTok as an effective attraction strategy. Implementing even one of these strategies can greatly enhance your overall marketing plan.

Now let's discuss Money Making Activity Number 17: Learning how to sell. Selling is a skill of its own and is crucial for business owners, even if it's not something we initially signed up for. Selling involves various techniques, such as persuasive copywriting, creating content that encourages action, conducting effective sales calls, mastering sales conversations, and designing sales campaigns. I understand that selling can be a barrier for many, which is why I'm launching my signature offer next year, which will include a skills hub. This hub will provide more than just masterclasses; it will offer exercises and tasks to help you learn and develop these skills, allowing you to implement them effectively. Stay tuned for more information on that.

Moving on to Money Making Activity Number 18: Content to nurture. While nurturing content isn't as directly focused on making money as attraction marketing or selling, it still contributes to your overall income. It plays a vital role in your marketing strategy by nurturing your existing audience and fostering connections with them. The purpose of this type of content is not to sell but to provide value and enhance people's lives. You can achieve this by consistently showing up with content that informs, advises, offers tips and tricks, and provides useful tools. The goal is to answer questions, engage your audience, and build the know, like, and trust factor. Whether through newsletters, blog posts, podcasts, or videos, delivering regular and consistent content is key to nurturing your community and growing your email list. Take advantage of available technology and tools to nurture hundreds or even thousands of people at once in a scalable and leveraged manner.

Next, let's discuss Money Making Activity Number 19: One-to-many sales. Constantly trading time for money is not a sustainable business model. Scaling your business involves finding ways to make sales in a more scalable and efficient manner. It's not about removing yourself entirely from the business but increasing your income without significantly increasing your workload. Personally, I realised this when I shifted my business model earlier this year to focus on fewer one-on-one clients and more one-to-many sales. This change allows me to generate more income while delivering fewer individual sessions, resulting in a higher impact and transformation for my clients. Consider incorporating one-to-many sales strategies into your business model to achieve a similar outcome.

Now, let's move on to Money Making Activity Number 20: Daily engagement. This simple yet often neglected activity requires only 30 minutes of your day. If you're using Instagram, divide this time into three segments: Spend the first 10 minutes engaging with posts in your feed, the next 10 minutes replying to people's stories, and the final 10 minutes replying to comments, direct messages, and engaging with people who viewed your stories. If 30 minutes feels overwhelming, start with 15 minutes, allocating five minutes to each segment. Many of us complain about the algorithm and lack of engagement, but we must give engagement to receive it. Be proactive and engage with others without expecting anything in return.

Moving on to Money Making Activity Number 21: Free training and launch events. Launching itself is a money-making activity, but it's important to focus on specific elements. As part of my launch strategy, I recommend hosting a launch event to make a splash in the lead-up to your launch. For example, a product-based client I worked with successfully conducted a product reveal series for each new collection, warming up her audience to the upcoming releases. Other effective launch events include webinars, challenges, masterclasses, paid workshops, content series, and freebies. These events combine elements of nurturing, selling, and attraction marketing, making them powerful components of your overall marketing strategy. I plan to incorporate more of these events starting in 2024 after returning from maternity leave because they are enjoyable and highly engaging for my audience.

Lastly, let's discuss Money Making Activity Number 22: Sharing behind-the-scenes content. Sharing the behind-the-scenes of your business is a valuable money-making activity. By doing so, you engage with your audience, establish your authority, and establish human-to-human connections. People want to know the person behind the brand and appreciate the transparency. Sharing behind-the-scenes content is easy to implement, especially through Instagram Stories. Make it a habit to include at least one behind-the-scenes story every day.

3) Working on yourself / on the business

So let's switch gears a little bit and focus on Category Number 3, which blends working on yourself and working on the business.

We'll start with Money Making Activity Number 23: Limiting Belief Work. Specifically, this activity involves working on your thoughts, healing your stories, and addressing your limiting beliefs. Many of us engage in personal development work, and that's great, but it only matters if we take action.

Expanding on mindset work in general, Money Making Activity Number 24, there are various techniques you can utilise. However, it's crucial to remember the importance of taking action. The law of attraction requires action, so find what works for you. Some techniques that have proven effective for me include thought work, reading, journaling, visualisation, rest, and spending quality time with my family. Based on my experience working with hundreds of clients over the past six years, I can confidently say that your thoughts are the number one reason for not pursuing your goals, feeling overwhelmed, or experiencing a lack of progress. Your mindset plays a pivotal role in your success, and it's essential to take ownership of your thoughts, reframe negative thought patterns, and recognise that you have the ability to change your thoughts.

Moving on to Money Making Activity Number 25: Daily Self-Care and Nourishment. Allocating time for yourself is a significant income-producing activity that many people neglect. Taking care of yourself enhances your ability to perform all the activities mentioned earlier. Prioritising daily self-care and nourishment ensure your cup is filled and your energy levels are high, allowing you to show up as your best self. This aspect is crucial for building a sustainable business. While we often talk about sustainability in business, we sometimes overlook the fact that a sustainable business relies on a sustainable person running it. Therefore, daily self-care and nourishment are essential components.

Let's now discuss Money Making Activity Number 26: Your Daily Boss Five. This concept was created to approach productivity from a wellness standpoint. Your Daily Boss Five consists of five daily habits.

  1. First is action, which involves identifying and completing your top three tasks for the day.

  2. Second is movement, recognising the mental and physical health benefits of staying active.

  3. The third habit is vision, reconnecting with your goals and preventing distractions or deviations.

  4. Kindness, the fourth habit, encompasses both self-kindness and kindness toward others, emphasising the importance of taking care of yourself and making a positive impact on those around you.

  5. Lastly, mindset, as previously discussed, involves choosing one thing each day to nurture your mindset.

Moving on to Money Making Activity Number 27: Reading. Engaging with books, particularly in the business and personal development genres, is highly beneficial. It's an opportunity for growth and learning. If reading is challenging for you, consider alternatives like The Daily Stoic, which provides short passages for daily reading. Setting a goal of reading around 10 pages per day can be sustainable and impactful.

Now let's delve into Money Making Activity Number 28: Business Strategy. Developing a comprehensive business strategy is essential for achieving your goals. It outlines your objectives, key performance indicators (KPIs), and action plans, providing clarity and direction for your activities. A well-defined business strategy enhances productivity, adaptability, and competitiveness.

Moving on to Money Making Activity Number 29: CEO Dates, or Boss Dates as I like to call them. As business owners, we often dive into tasks without proper planning, leading to inefficiency and potential burnout. CEO Dates are crucial for assessing your progress, aligning goals, and making adjustments. These dates include quarterly, monthly, weekly, and daily check-ins to ensure you're on track and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Let's discuss Money Making Activity Number 30: Personal Development. This activity focuses on continuous learning and skill development. Every day, aim to improve by 1% in some area. Invest in yourself, fill knowledge gaps, and commit to lifelong learning.

Moving on to Money Making Activity Number 31: Implementing Systems. Systems play a vital role in streamlining and optimising your business operations. Start by systemising your marketing strategy, ensuring consistent application of the five key components: attract, engage, nurture, invite, and delight. Tracking your progress is also essential. It allows you to measure your achievements, stay motivated, identify areas of improvement, and celebrate successes.

Finally, Activity Number 32: Track your progress. is such an important way to measure how far you've come and how much further you have to go. Tracking your progress can help you in a number of ways it can help you to stay motivated. So when you see how far you've come, it can give you the push, you need to keep going.
