Making decisions in your business can be a scary thing, but it really doesn’t have to be. Let me tell you why I think there is no such thing as a right or wrong decision; only indecision and execution. You’re going to love this one.

Plus, I’ve got 3 private coaching spots open until the end of May - book your FREE strategy call here and let’s lay out our plan!

This one was inspired by one of my amazing clients…

She’s working on a big project in her business at the moment - she’s gearing up for a launch, setting up funnels and one day she asked me a really simple question: “Holly, this is the situation, these are my two options, what should I do?

And before I gave her my advice I actually threw it back to her and said… “What option do YOU think you should go for? What feels better for you?”

Because I wanted to encourage her to make a decision.

And that’s what I want to encourage you to do.

We are going to be talking about decisions - making decisions, trusting yourself in making decisions, backing yourself in making decisions… all the things. Let’s dive in.

no such thing as a wrong decision

First and foremost, I believe the most critical thing in business is the ability to make quick decisions. You need momentum in your business, and quick decisions give you that momentum.

Often, people become overly concerned with making the right decision and fear making the wrong one. They worry that making the wrong decision will mess everything up and cause them to fail. What I want to propose to you right now is, "What if there is no wrong decision? What if you can't mess it up?"

Take a moment to ponder that. So often I see people trapped in the energy of indecision, focusing on the little details such as adding a button to a sales page. I never want to be in that state. I want to be in the energy of execution, making decisions and moving forward. I don't want to be in the energy of "I don't know what to do, I don't know the right decision to make, I don't know what to name the blog." That is the energy of indecision.

I always want to be in the energy of growing my business and moving it forward. I always know the right thing to do, make the right decision, and have my own back. This is something I've been talking to my clients about a lot lately, having their own backs.

Having your own back means that when you make a decision, you won't berate yourself for it later on. You say, "I made the best decision I could with the information I had, and I'm moving forward."

There is no right or wrong decision, only indecision and execution. Being stuck in the energy of indecision will kill your business. You need to make quick decisions and have faith in yourself. Entrepreneurship is about trusting yourself and knowing that you will make the right decisions for your business. If you choose Option A and later realise you should have gone with Option B, you have the ability to change course. You don't need to worry about it. What if there is no wrong decision? What if there's only indecision and execution?

People often try to find the easy way and have the mindset that they want to do everything right so that they don't waste any time and everything goes perfectly. That's not how business works. You have to screw up, make mistakes, and diverge from the path to get where you want to go. You don't get to perfectly go through the steps of A, B, C, D, and E. You take two steps forward, then a step back, then two steps forward again. You don't get to do it perfectly, no matter what coach you hire, the programme you use, or the strategy and plan you have. You have a vision, but you don't need every detail of the plan. Having a vision and having a plan are two different things. The hard truth is that failure is required.

When building my business, I had never built a business before. You don't get to do it perfectly. You are a business owner. As a business owner, you need to execute quickly, be willing to pivot and make adjustments. You can have a vision without needing every detail of the plan. You're going to continue to learn and change and go back and edit.

Don't let the fear of having to change something keep you in the energy of indecision. You have to be moving and executing to move forward. People often get stuck on little things, and that's why I'm discussing this today. It's not about what the decision is, it's about whether you're going to let these little decisions kill your business. When I look around, I see an epidemic of women starting businesses and quitting because they lack the skill of believing that they can make the right choices and execute them with confidence.

You just have to decide to back yourself, and your new mantra should be "I always figure it out." It doesn't matter if you picked the right thing or the wrong thing; you will figure it out. Your success is inevitable, and it's safe for you to move forward and try things. It's safe to fail and wish you had done things differently. You have to be willing to do things and move forward.

Of course, there are things you would have done differently in the beginning with more information, but you couldn't have gotten there without moving forward. So just stay in the energy of execution, not indecision.

be confident and trust yourself

So many people believe that making a decision means that everything will be smooth sailing from that point forward. The reality is that a week later, they may be stuck on a different issue because they lack the confidence to stand behind their decisions. Business owners must make decisions constantly, often up to a thousand per day, and must confront new ones frequently. If they experience self-doubt and struggle to trust themselves, they may struggle to move forward. Facts.

When you run a business you don't have the luxury of time to procrastinate. So instead why not approach decision-making like a job, where productivity is required? As if you are not producing, your business will suffer. If you are the only one in your business, you must make decisions and hold yourself accountable. Sometimes, you must take a leap of faith, even when you don't know if it is the right choice. Give yourself a deadline and commit to making a decision. Indecision is also a decision, a choice to do nothing, and in business, you must always be moving forward.

Sassy Holly has definitely come out to play here, but I really hope this pep talk resonates with you and meets you where you are at. It's so important to back yourself and let go of perfectionism. You can’t be too hard on yourself, as it’ll only make it harder to believe in yourself during these decisions. Have your own back!

I’d love your biggest takeaway from this to be to just make the decision, whatever it is to avoid that indecisive energy at all costs.
