Whether you’re a beginner or experienced blogger or business owner, you know one thing to be true. Succeeding with social media requires having clear goals and quality content. This means high quality pictures, videos, and captions.
But it also requires knowing a few “secret” tips and tricks that you maybe don’t hear about very often. And that’s what’s going to help get your content in front of a larger audience.
It might be the proper use of hashtags on platforms such as YouTube, or sharing Facebook content in the right groups. There are an endless amount of social media marketing tips that will revolutionise your online game.
The best part of these tips though, is that they require minimal effort, but provide significant gain. In this post, I go through a few of these lesser known tips, how to use them, and why they’re important for your marketing plan.

#1 | INVITE THE PEOPLE WHO LIKE YOUR POSTS TO LIKE YOUR PAGE
Did you know that when you look at who has “liked” your post, you can also have them like your page?
One of the easiest ways to grow your Facebook page is to use the “like” tool next to people’s names. By doing this, you are inviting them to “like” your page which many will definitely do.
To quicken this process, you can also boost a post to gain more likes. When a post is “boosted” it is shown outside of your current audience but to a demographic you choose. Even a five dollar boost can help your content be shown to a much broader demographic.
This means that more people who aren’t following your page are prompted to like your content. The more people you can invite, the more potential there is for them to turn into page likes.
I have a whole video dedicated to navigating your way around the Facebook algorithm which you can watch below.
#2 | SHARE VIDEOS FROM YOUR PAGE TO FACEBOOK GROUPS
When it comes to social media marketing tips, Facebook groups are one of the most valuable parts of Facebook. There are two main reasons for that:
They can accelerate your page’s growth.
They can give you a high number of video views.
When you take a video from your own page and share it to a group, your views will grow big time. If people like what they see then your page likes will grow big time too.
There are a few things to keep in mind though, before you start dropping your videos in any and every group you find:
Be sure to follow the group rules (sometimes promotion isn’t allowed).
Make sure you share directly from your page to gain views and followers (uploading to the group won’t accomplish this in the same way).
Don’t oversaturate groups with the same niche or else people will get bored of your content really fast. You may even become blocked.
Videos that do well with your current audience will likely do well in niche-specific groups. Share it to two or three different groups and see how it performs. If it performs well, don’t be afraid to drop it in additional groups in the future.
And don’t forget if you have your own Facebook group, you can do exactly the same thing!
#3 | USE HASHTAGS ON YOUTUBE TO REACH A TARGETED AUDIENCE
Did you know that hashtags work on YouTube too? That’s right, they’re not just for Instagram and Twitter anymore.
To make it work, all you need to do is add three hashtags anywhere within your description. They will automatically show up in your title. Having your videos categorised into these tags allows your video to be seen by more people.
#4 | USE TUBEBUDDY TO CREEP ON OTHER YOUTUBERS
This isn’t as creepy as it sounds, I promise! Using the TubeBuddy extension for Chrome is a great way to learn what is working for other people (as well as all of their metrics).
Not only does it help you find best practices, but it helps you discover which tags to use in your video, based on what your video is about. By using tags and keywords from other successful videos in the same niche, you have a better chance of showing up as “recommended” when their video plays. This can help skyrocket your views.
#5 | ADD A SPECIAL SUBSCRIBE LINK TO GAIN SUBSCRIBERS QUICKER
This is such a nifty tip that a lot of YouTubers don’t take advantage of.
When browsing, you will notice that some YouTube personalities use a subscribe link as shown above. This is a shortcut that allows users to quickly subscribe (while also reminding them to do so). The more you encourage them to subscribe, the more likely they are to do it.
To do this, all you need is the link to your channel and the ?sub_confirmation=1 modifier. For example, go to your page and paste your URL. Mine is:
But if you want to add an easy subscribe button, I would need to add the /?sub_confirmation=1 addition. This changes it to:
As you can see from the image above, when people click that link the subscribe button pops up. You can also shorten that link (because let’s face it, it’s WAY too long), by using a link shortener such as bitly.com.
#6 | USE THE UNFOLD APP FOR DIFFERENT STYLES OF INSTAGRAM STORIES
Have you ever wondered how people can have Instagram Stories that are a different size to your screen or in a funky format? The white background or added extras make it look like they’ve put so much effort into creating the perfect story.
This is useful to do, because as a content creator, it allows you to elevate your story, add interest to your message and keep people engaged, just by mixing up your formats.
I do this by using an app called Unfold. This app allows you to upload your photos and videos into different templates and download them to then upload to your Instagram Story. You can buy other templates to add to your collection, but apart from that the app is completely free.
#7 | USE HASHTAGS IN YOUR STORIES FOR MORE FOLLOWERS (AND HIDE THEM!)
We all know the importance of adding hashtags to your post captions. But are you adding them to your Instagram Story too? By doing this, your stories have the chance to rank in the hashtag’s story. That means people browsing those hashtags will have a chance to come across your post. If they like what they see, they will follow you.
Sometimes though, hashtag stickers can ruin the aesthetic of the Instagram Story you want to post. Thankfully, there are ways around it.
If you want to include hashtags in your Instagram Stories, you can type out your hashtags (you can include up to 10 in your stories), pinch the text to make them smaller, and then place a GIF or image sticker over the hashtag so it’s perfectly hidden!
#8 | USE TAILWIND TRIBES TO REACH A BIGGER AUDIENCE FASTER
I recently doubled my monthly unique viewers on Pinterest from 1 million to 2 million and the main reason for that is due to Tailwind.
A lot of people say you don’t need Tailwind for Pinterest success. While I do think you can have success on Pinterest without it, it’s definitely needed if you want to see big results in a short space of time (for little effort!)
Tailwind Tribes is a feature available for bloggers and marketers to allow them to get their content in front of huge accounts. This means you see rapid growth. My clients have used this strategy and all seen their results on Pinterest increase.

#9 | FIND YOUR PINS THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE REPINNED
When it comes to social media marketing tips this is SUPER useful. It’s no secret that Pinterest is a traffic-driving machine. But you want to utilise this traffic and one of the best ways to do that is to re-pin other people’s pins of your content.
You can do this by using the URL: pinterest.com/source/yourwebsite
For example, to find all of my pins that are getting re-pinned by other people, I would use the link: pinterest.com/source/abranchofholly.com.
This means I can find all of the pins from my particular website (abranchofholly.com). When you find them, re-pin them like crazy!
#10 | REQUIRE PEOPLE TO PIN YOUR CONTENT BEFORE ALLOWING THEM INTO YOUR GROUP BOARDS
If you’re using Pinterest to market yourself, your blog or your business in any way, group boards are a must.
But not only should you join group boards, you can also develop your own successful group board for huge benefits.
Once you have a group board with active members, you can start requiring new members to fulfil tasks to gain access to this board.
One of these is requiring them to pin “x” amount of your pins before you let them in.
Do not feel bad for doing this! Not only does it benefit you, it also vets people who will contribute from those who don’t.
For example, you could require all prospective members to re-pin content from your own blog brand board before gaining access. Most people will have no problem doing this and that will mean a lot more Pinterest authority for you.
USE THESE SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING TIPS FOR SUCCESS
The key to social media success is simple. You have to provide consistent, quality content and then utilise a strategy that will help get that content in front of others. That means using every tool and tip available to you to get you in front of an audience.
By using these tricks you will definitely be on your way to your next breakthrough.
