SEVEN FOR SUNDAY: 13TH MARCH 2016

Seven for Sunday: 13th March 2016

This Seven for Sunday post comes from my desk at home, staring out the window watching the sun set on a Friday evening, because oh my word, it's been a bee-autiful day - but I've had my eyes glued to a spreadsheet.

You see, Year 10 students get to come on what's called a Taster Day in Summer, where they get to be a College student for the day. I remember feeling so adult on mine!

Anyway, over the next few weeks we're going into schools and getting the kids to fill forms in with all their personal details and their top four course choices that they get to try out.

My job is to then input all of that into a beautifully sparkling Excel spreadsheet.

Oh the joy. It took me about five hours. No joke. My manager says I'll start dreaming about them soon.

So other than spreadsheets making my eyes go square, the rest of this week has been pretty good. I've had time to work on my blog, time to exercise, time to play the piano, time to spend with the fam - it's definitely felt more balanced.

This will be completely different next week when I've got two late nights at work, but let's just live in the moment, yeah? Here's this week's Seven for Sunday!

#1 | Bloom & Wild Flowers and Mother's Day Celebrations

Mother's Day isn't complete without flowers - but this year I wanted to do something different.

I'm guessing you've heard of Bloom & Wild but if you haven't, go check them out right now. They deliver flowers in a box, through the letterbox. Genius, right? So I read some reviews and checked them out online.

My mum's name is Liz, so when I saw a bouquet called "The Lizzie", it was a no brainer.

SHE LOVED THEM. And I've asked for some myself for the next big occasion/whenever. I don't know how, but they've also improved so much over the past week. The roses have really opened up, so much so that they almost look like peonies. Safe to say, my mum said they were the best bouquet of flowers she's ever had. Huge daughter points for me right there.

#2 | My Brother's 22nd Birthday

The fact that my brother has turned 22 probably scares me more than it scares him (although he is pretty gutted about not being 21 anymore!)

He wasn't home for his birthday because he's doing an MA at uni, but he came home the Sunday before and we all went out for a yummy meal. Quite nice that it fell on Mother's Day, too.

I was looking for an old picture of us and I think this is one of my favourites. This was taken in Ireland and we're going back there in summer, so we might be able to re-enact it!

#3 | Spring Scents

Not a day goes by that I don't wear some kind of scent.

This perfume is from Rosie Huntington-Whiteley for Autograph at Marks & Spencer and I'm obsessed with it. Not only is the packaging stunning (hello gold!) but it smells divine. Like her name, it's definitely very rosy, and it's almost a mixture of vintage and modern.

I'm a flower girl by heart so this perfume is also a perfect match to my personality. I really feel like me when I'm wearing it and I like how it just finishes off my outfits. Plus, you only need a few squirts and it lasts all day.

I wish it turned me into the actual Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, because damn she's amazing! But the smell is good enough for me... (shop here).

#4 | New Hair & Dressing Nicely

One of the things I've always taken pride in is my appearance. You wouldn't have thought that if you saw me in school. I never wore any makeup, my hair was always a mess of curls and I carried a little bit of "puppy fat" which I always hated. I never bleached my hair, I never caked my eyes in eyeliner - I just wasn't really glamorous at all.

Over the past couple of years, I really feel like I've come into my own with my style in terms of fashion and beauty. The most recent thing I treated myself to was a balayage style colour, where the ends of my hair have been coated in a caramel shade and I've had some highlights in the top too. Let me tell you, I can't get enough of it when the sun is shining!

To cut it all short, I've been exercising more, I use great products and I know what suits my body. Never before have I felt as confident as I do in myself right now and it really shows.

#5 | Dove Self-Tan Moisturising Lotion

Speaking of appearance - I've never used fake tan before. I know, right. I told you what I was like in school! But because of all the Irish blood in me, that also means that naturally, I'm very very pale.

Dove's tanning moisturises is the only self-tan I own or will ever use. I've only been using it for a week and I can notice a difference already. It just slides onto your skin like body lotion and gives it a really good softness too.

I find that as long as I massage it in properly and give myself a few minutes to dry off, it works like a charm. Plus, it's only like five or six quid. Bargain.

#6 | Clinique's New Gift

If you read my blog post on Friday, then you'll know about my love affair with Clinique. It's my most loyal beauty and skincare brand that I've been using since I was 16.

Every so often, they'll put together a special gift, where if you buy any two products, you get this gift for free. Usually, the gift comes out right around the time when I need to stock up on a few bits and that's exactly what happened with the Spring edition. I needed some cleanser and moisturiser which got me the free gift, and then the consultant said if I bought a third thing, I'd get a full version of their foaming cleanser too. Well that was a no brainer, wasn't it?

The gift is my favourite so far. Moisturiser, eye cream makeup remover, mascara, an eyeshadow palette and lipstick - it's got everything in there a girl could want.

#7 | Date Nights

One of the things I love most about date nights is getting to dress up in my fanciest clothes. I'm a major Sons of Anarchy fangirl, so I'm pretty sure this outfit was inspired by that.

The blouse is actually my mum's and the colour looks amazing on her, so obviously it just sorted of ended up in my wardrobe somehow. The leather look trousers are a pair I've had for ages from River Island and actually have a big hole in now. Then the giant shoes were a present from Tom for Christmas and boy do they make me grow a few inches!

With flats, this outfit would've been just OK. But heels dress everything up and make your outfit look so much more sophisticated.
